Due dates
You can set due dates on your tasks in taskmastr, and if you set a due date in the future taskmastr will even remind you with an email.
Note that taskmastr will not remind you at a specific time of your choosing. It will always be at 6am on the day of.
To get started, click the calendar icon to the right of any task. Out pops a datepicker; simply select the date you'd like to use for this task and you're done.
You'll now notice that the calendar icon is now pink and also has a check inside it. This indicates there's a due date present. Click the icon again to view the due date, change it, or clear it out entirely.
You're absolutely welcome to set a due date in the past, taskmastr will let you view it but of course won't remind you of it.
Due date shortcuts
One cool features in taskmastr is you can set a due date for a task at the same time as creation. Who has time to create a task, then click on a datepicker, find the date you need and then click it. Not you, that's who!
It starts with a simple declaration at the beginning of your task:
Remind me to
This signals taskmastr to look out for a date. Don't worry, taskmastr is smart enough not to actually save this in your task.
Next you'll write your task as normal:
Remind me to water the plants
Follow up your task with a exact date or a relative date:
Remind me to water the plants tomorrow
Remind me to water the plants next Monday
Remind me to water the plants Sept 9
Remind me to water the plants on 10/10/2015
etc.
Keep in mind that if it's currently Monday and you say next Tuesday
taskmastr will actually think tomorrow, since that's the next Tuesday. As far as taskmastr is concerned you might as well have said on Tuesday
But wait, there's more!
taskmastr even has shortcuts for yo shortcuts:
/r meet up with that one guy next Tuesday
Remind me to meet up with that one guy next Tuesday
/t eat breakfast
Remind me to eat breakfast tomorrow
/w sleep
Remind me to sleep next week (Monday)
/m pay rent
Remind me to pay rent next month (the 1st)
/y try and fail at a New Year's Resolution
Remind me to try and fail at a New Year's Resolution next year (January 1st)
Play around with different formats to see what works for you. January 1, 2016
should work as should 01/01/2016
, 2016-01-01
, Jan 1 2016
, and even January 2016
. For correct date parsing, the year is almost always necessary when specifying an exact date.
The behavior will change depending on the browser you use as well as your location.
